Hitachi 2.5" External HDD

Not sure if I've posted these before.

I couldn't find any of my post about this.

I've found some old pictures of a Hitachi 2.5" External HDD

Dell External DVDRW Drive

I'm going to do a quick go thru to show you a Dell External DVDRW Drive. From unboxing to a look at the drive!

Here's a shot at the box.

It's not really a big box. Quite small really.

And here's a close look at the graphical indication of the content. Looks about just right :)

Yup. Let's open  it up and dig in.

Looks pretty standard packing from dell.

Here's what we found inside.

A pouch.

A DVDRW Drive

USB Cable extention with power socket

A burning Software

A DVD Movie player sofware

And some rubbish piece of paper.

Here's a look at the pouch. The quality used to make it is quite good. Pretty solid material and it also provides some protection from drop impacts too.

Here's how the drive looks like. You can see that it is a similar kind of black glossy surface that is very very reflective. You can see it mirroring the box on it's surface there. Unforturnately, such glossyness always comes with the problem of cleaning it constantly. It's very finger print prone ...

See it's slot loader mouth there? Haha. Don't miss it!

Lets look at the back of the drive.
It's like a rubberish finish instead of plastic.
Feels lots better than plastic thats for sure.

Notice the extended USB plug there? It's built in. You can pull it out or push it back in with ease.

But thats just as long as it gets.

And thats why we were given this. An extention cable that also comes with a USB Power Plug.

See these? It's a mini Disc.

No worry. Slot Loader can eat Mini Disc too :)

Dell Studio 14 (Esthetic) - Part 2

Here is the first look I've got for you.

Look at that glossy reflective surface of it. You can see the window and cupboard clearly reflected on it. Probably can use it as a vanity mirror if the lighthing is right.

Here's the left view. You can find the LAN port at the end there. USB, VGA and HDMI port in the middle, and the express card slot on the other end.

On the right side, you can see some audio jacks, a single USB port and a slot loaded BlueRay drive, and ofcoz, the power socket and power button situated nearer to the back of the laptop.

On the left here, you can see a full frontal of the laptop. Super glossy. It reflected the airconditioner and curtains perfectly ...

On the right here is a closer shot of it's silver gray platform. Enlarge the picture here, and you'll be able to see/notice that it's not plain gray. It has a patterned background to the silver colour.

In fact, if you check the glossy black front cover out, you'll see that it too has a patterned background. Sadly thou, none of my pic actually captured it.

Well, it just so happened this laptop comes with a backlit keyboard.

Let me show you a bit of how it looks here.

Backlit Keyboard!

Lets compare! Looks at the following 3 pics and you'll see the different backlighting level it has. But ofcuz, one of the level is to turn off the backlight. Hehehe.

Now if you didn't notice, you may want to go back and check the pic out again. The backlit doesn't just light up the background. It also lights up the wordings on each key. They are not solid coated text, and can let some light pass thru them.

The touch pad.

It feels smooth. Not as smooth as the other body part, but way smoother than my Latitude D630 ... the background patern is paste all over it.

Like, what's premium sound suppose to be?

The power button knows how to light it self up.

Nice lighting.

Notice all the lighting on this laptop is white in colour?

Well, you see the disc sticking out of the slot loader?

Thats a mini disc. Have no fear. Stick it in there. It's got a big slot loaded mouth, but it can take the mini disc just the same.

Wonder if it's designer's intention to not have the first letter capitalized?

Hmm. Just realised I've been showing all about this laptop but haven't revealed it's spec at all. Haha, well, catch that on Part 3! and maybe some looks at the bottom of the laptop too? ;)

Dell Studio 14 (Box opening) - Part 1

Today, I have a new piece of hardware to share. A box opening of a Dell Studio 14.

It comes in a compact box the size of a brief case only. Pretty much saves alot of space.

You can see it in the left pic. It's the one with the blig black dell logo in the centre of the box. The other box is a Targus Synergy Case for 15" Laptops and below.

Opening up the box (right pic), you'll find another box!

But don't get the wrong idea, it's not really a box within a box. It's actually a long rectanglular and flat box.

It contains a 90W Power Adapter. I've work with this model of power adapters alot.

The tip of the power adapter has a nice deep blue led light ringged around it to indicate the power is on. It's also nice to see that it slowly dims out after you power it off.

Heres a shot of the inside of the box with the power adapter's box is out of the way.

Looks pretty empty. Two semi solid thin plastic holds the laptops from the left and right. And the other thing in there is a case holding books, some paper and it's resource CD.

On the left, you can see the laptop wrapped in plastic, and behind it the case I just menioned.

 A case ... that holds many. Many rubbishes.





On the right, you can see some pile of the rubbish. Resource CDs and a licensed copy of ... Microsoft ... Works ... so nevermind about it.

Let's just ignore it ...

On the left here, you can see some more rubbish found in the case. Quite alot of stuffs in that case. Almost looks like it's being stuffed in there ...

Well, I actually did find one thing thats prompted some importantcy. It even looks important when you see all these pics. lolx.

It's the yellow piece of paper on the pic right there.

Dell isn't shipping you any installation/setup disc for the OS anymore. That means freely formating your PC with a licensed OS is kind of out of the question from here onwards.

So, best advice is to find this piece of paper, flip it to the other side and read on ;)

For any user getting a Dell, this is the first thing that you should do on your first use of your new Dell PC.

So please do find this this yellow piece of paper, read it and do as it says and make your own Recovery Disc!

Make sure to keep your RECOVERY DISC SAFE too!

Here, I'm going to show you how big this big guy looks in real.

At the cost of BND$1,499.00 ... and specs like that, it's pretty cool.

Not only the specs is nice, the casing is cool too.

It's an aluminium case oO.

Here's an inside view. You can catch a glimps of how big and wide it looks just from this small picture ...

Notice the keyboard? It's a full size keyboard ... with a num keypad on the side. And what luck, we have a keyboard there for you to compare the size. Lol

Here's a closer look at the keyboard.
That's a pretty normal sized keyboard on this laptop.

Has a nice rubberish plastic kind of smooth feel, and a black gloss to it.

Over here on the left side, you can find the power input. You can see we've already plugged a power cord into it already.

You can also see the 3 Video Out choices you can choose from here including an HDMI Out :)

Ok, there also 2 USB slots situated here. Let's keep that in mind :)

Here is the right side.

We've got another 2 USB ports here. That make a total of for USB slots without using an addition hub ... Great ... but thats pretty standard to have even for 14 to 15 inch laptops. Not that we'd need 6 thou. lol.

The optical drive is also here, plus the firewire socket too. And whats that slot above the firewire? Hmm ... I wonder too. PCI Express?

Here's the front side of it.

You can see the WiFi switch is there, Headphone jacks and line ins, the memory card slot can also be found here.

Plus ... power and batter led lights.
